Animal Farm Book Cover

This beloved 1945 novel is an allegory disguised as a children’s book, discussing the rise of communism in 1917 and Joseph Stalin’s leadership in the environment of an English farm. A group of farm animals rebel against their neglectful human farmer, hoping to create a society where the animals can be equal, free, and happy. For this book cover, I took inspiration from Russian constructivism from the early 20th century, particularly from the work of Alexander Rodchenko, and adapted that motif to reflect the themes of the story. I pieced together vectors of farm animals into a fist, which is iconic to any kind of resistance propaganda. Additionally, I created a blocky typeface to continue the constructivist themes of design of the book.
